The Zahid Business Park is a new mixed use development located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Business Park encompasses 120 acres of undeveloped land with a build-out of over 1,600,000 SF of space. The park contains high-rise Class A office towers, industrial warehousing and manufacturing, community/recreation center/mosque, cultural center/museum, research and laboratories, housing, vocational training center, water filtration plant and sewage plant. The Business Park is located beyond available utilities and is therefore “off the gird.” The Park produces its own power from solar arrays, wind turbines and diesel generators, provides its own water through on site wells with filtration and desalination plants and recycles waste water with its own on-site sewage treatment facility.
The concept for the Master Plan design is a central landscaped boulevard running through the middle of the site which provides the public access and “Front Door” to the major buildings. The boulevard is anchored at the main entry with a Corporate high-rise and at the opposite end with high density residential housing bordering along future neighboring residential. Service traffic is separated from employee, tenant and guest circulation by locating heavy truck access around the perimeter and off the central boulevard.
SH Architecture was selected as the Master Plan and Design architect for the Business Park from a field of over 100 international design firms. SH Architecture wrote the design guidelines for the park, designed over half of the buildings on site and provided interior design services in conjunction with a team of international consultants from London, Beirut, Jeddah, Paris and Dubai.
